Norma has experienced hearing loss for most of her life, starting with her right ear early in life and then followed by her left ear around 1995.  In 1996, Norma turned to hearing aids, but the outcome was not perfect.  “I realise as I look back, it had a big impact, mainly missing the concept of words and often acting and replying inaccurately.”

Norma turned more recently to a Cochlear implant.  When the device was switched on, she describes it as “amazing, although it takes a while to fine tune.”  Following her initial delight, Norma has noticed continuous improvement in her hearing.

Today, Norma receives “the wonderful support of Jo and Northside Audiology”; and finds it difficult to describe how her hearing has changed, but said the biggest difference has been related to her dealings with people.  “Now I can hear all of the conversation.”
